Three Baptisms at GBC

On Sunday, October 30, 2011, three individuals came forward to be baptized, recognizing that they have been saved by grace alone through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior, and have been “buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4 ESV).

The three candidates were Brenda Richardson, Atlantis Adkins, and Bridget Adkins.  Brenda was baptized by Pastor Robie Day, Pastor Rick Evans (pastor of Stockdale Baptist Church), and her husband Randy Richardson.  Atlantis and Bridget were baptized by Pastor Robie and Pastor Rick .

We would like to thank all who participated in the baptism service, and give a special thank you to all of our family from Stockdale Baptist who joined us for this joyous occasion.

GBC Takes First Members

On Wednesday, October 12, 2011, Grace Brethren Chapel held its first business meeting.  The purpose of the meeting was to explain and discuss the church’s statement of faith and constitution, and to officially set the church in order.  After reading the statement of faith and constitution, all of those wishing to participate in the establishment of the church were asked to come forward and join.  As a result, twelve individuals came forward as charter members of Grace Brethren Chapel.  We are so thankful for God’s grace in the establishment of Grace Brethren Chapel, and pray that we will remain obedient servants, sharing his Word and growing in the grace and wisdom of the Lord.

The Doors Are Open!

GBC opened the doors for worship for the first time this morning.  Seventy-six people were in attendance with visitors traveling from as far as Columbus, OH and Nashville, TN.  The service was led by Larry Stanley and Kevin Greene gave the opening prayer.  Mandy Day led the congregational singing and Sherry Lawrence played the piano.  The church opened with the hymns “We Have Met to Worship” and “Nothing But the Blood.”  “Amazing Grace” was played during our time of fellowship and “Just As I Am” was played at the close of service.  Special songs were sang by the father-daughter duet of Larry Stanley and Mandy Day, as well as two songs by Colby Lykins.  The message was given by Robie Day on Ephesians 2:1-10, entitled “By Grace Through Faith.”

We would like to thank everyone who was able to attend this morning, as well as everyone who contributed, in any way, to the opening of the church.  We have been blessed with an overwhelming amount of support throughout this entire process.  We are very thankful for each and every one of you and we look forward to seeing you all again very soon.

His and yours,

GBC
