New Sermon Series

Just as a healthy plant is one that is well-nourished and given loving attention,  a healthy faith also requires proper nourishment and devoted care. In his epistles to the various New Testament churches, Paul repeatedly encourages and instructs his brothers and sisters in Christ to give great attention to the nourishment of their faith (2 Pet. 1:3-11; Gal. 6:7-10; 1 Tim. 4:6-10; Col. 1:28-29), as a faith that lacks nourishment and attention will grow starved and weary, just as a sun-scorched plant.

On Sunday, May 31, 2015, Grace Brethren Chapel will begin a new sermon series on the spiritual disciplines, the biblical means of grace for growing and cultivating a well-nourished and devoted faith in Jesus Christ.

New Sermon Series

In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus commissions the church to make and train disciples by taking the gospel out to all the nations. He then gives the greatest pregame speech ever by promising that he, the sovereign Lord and King of creation, will be with us on this mission! This promise is a great and wonderful encouragement to the church, as this mission is not one that comes without challenges and difficulties.

On Sunday, May 3, 2015, Grace Brethren Chapel will begin a new sermon series addressing some of the most pressing issues facing the church today as we carry out this great, gospel-sharing commission.

Change for Love

Grace Brethren Chapel is excited to announce our monthly Change for Love fundraising campaign. Change for Love is a nonprofit ministry, born out of the compassionate heart and creative mind of our very own Abriella Lykins. While in middle school, Abriella created the Change for Love ministry with one simple mission:  collecting and turning loose change into “gifts of love for people in our community and throughout the world.” To date, Change for Love has provided food, clothing, and hygiene kits to the homeless, and provided 40,000 gallons of clean drinking water in the Philippines, as well as a medical/dental clinic.

To make a contribution to Change for Love, or for more information on getting your church involved in our fundraising campaign, contact Abriella Lykins at abbylyk@gmail.com or Grace Brethren Chapel at gbcpiketon@gmail.com.

New Wednesday Night Study: Colossians

colossians-series-0011

Grace Brethren Chapel invites you to begin a new study in Paul’s letter to the Colossians on Wednesday nights at 6pm (begins on February 11, 2015). Here’s a short introduction to the book of Galatians from the ESV Study Bible:

Author and Title

Paul and Timothy are explicitly named as the authors of Colossians (1:1). Timothy probably served as Paul’s secretary (amanuensis) since the first person singular (“I”) is used throughout the letter (e.g., 1:24). The title indicates that Paul wrote the letter to Christians living in the small city of Colossae. Continue reading “New Wednesday Night Study: Colossians”
