New Sermon Series

Matthew

It is the first book of the New Testament and was written my a Jewish tax collector as an evangelistic case for Christ as the long-awaited Jewish Messiah.  The Gospel of Matthew was written by the apostle Matthew, a Jewish tax collector who left his home and wealth to follow Jesus of Nazareth.  His account of Jesus’ life and ministry was written primarily to a Jewish audience and focused on the teachings of Jesus, the person and work of Christ, and the identity of the church.  Over the next months, we will be studying the message that Matthew presented to his first century Jewish audience in order to better understand the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We invite you to join us on Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m. as we study the person and work of Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew.  Additionally, if you cannot make it to Sunday morning services, we also offer a Wednesday night Bible study (7:00 p.m.) in which we are currently working through the book of Acts.

All are welcome and we hope to see you soon!

More Baptisms at Grace Brethren Chapel

What better way to kick off the new year than a couple baptisms?  The month of January saw two baptisms at Grace Brethren.  On January 1, Ryan Lykins came forward to be baptized, and on January 22, Starkey Adkins came forward to be baptized, both recognizing that they have been saved by grace alone through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, having been “buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4 ESV).

The Seven Feasts of Israel

Grace Brethren Chapel has begun a new study on the seven feasts of Israel and would like to invite you to join us.  It will be a nine week study on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm.  The study will be lead by Larry Stanley and will include video sessions from the Feasts of the Bible DVD-based study by Dr. Sam Nadler.  Several authentic Jewish artifacts will be used in the study, and all study materials will be provided.  November 16 was the introductory lesson, but we will begin studying the first feast, the Passover, on November 23.  We hope and pray you will join us for this wonderful study!

Dr. Nadler is the president of Word of Messiah Ministries.

Three Baptisms at GBC

On Sunday, October 30, 2011, three individuals came forward to be baptized, recognizing that they have been saved by grace alone through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior, and have been “buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4 ESV).

The three candidates were Brenda Richardson, Atlantis Adkins, and Bridget Adkins.  Brenda was baptized by Pastor Robie Day, Pastor Rick Evans (pastor of Stockdale Baptist Church), and her husband Randy Richardson.  Atlantis and Bridget were baptized by Pastor Robie and Pastor Rick .

We would like to thank all who participated in the baptism service, and give a special thank you to all of our family from Stockdale Baptist who joined us for this joyous occasion.
